so i pulled my 97 sc400 into the shop at the school for some checking and inspection today, one guy noticed a sticker on the hood, it says "evap family 3.0 liter" and thought its a 3.0 liter V8, i said its 4.0 liter. he said its the smallest v8 he has ever seen. anyway the sticker had my worried, why does it say 3.0 liter? before i bought the car, i checked make sure the car has clean history, maybe the owner had an accident and did not report to the insurance, and the body shop replaced the hood and put a wrong sticker in it. can someone check your hood sticker to c wat it says, thanks alot, i added some pics at the bottom

wat i meant was, it is a sticker about 3x4 inch ON the hood(not on the engine bay), open the hood, and its on the hood

Its probably just a hood from a 300. Maybe a previous owner replaced it with a used one.

does the sticker say 2JZ-GE anywhere on it. if it does, then yes, its a hood from a 300.

Sounds like an EMISSION LABEL from a 2JZ-GE 3.0L, looks like the hoods been swapped..

why don't you just look at the vacuum diagram sticker on the hood, and if it's a pic of a 2jz-ge then it's a 300 hood.

if it's a pic of a V8, its a 400 hood.

The sticker everyone is referring to should be some inches over to the left from the hood latch.

the vacuum diagram says 1uzfe and its a v8 and the other sticker does say 2jz ge, here r the pics, anyway, if it is from a 300 hood, the car probably has some history, but the car runs great, especially when at a stoplight, turn the ac off, u can hardly notice the engine is running.

lol, its like a hermaphrodite. you have both. let me take a look at mine. looks like someone peeled the old sticker off the 400 hood and slapped it on the 300 hood along with the other sticker.

And as someone posted before me, it's a little late now lol...but tell your classmate it's still a 4.0 V8 ...and as far as the size thing...just tell him japanese motors are more efficient than american ones lol
