Bringing SC home from Texas
Just purchased a beautiful '97 SC400 from a private party in Texas. Car had been very well cared for. Black on black leather, great paint and incredible interior condition. Stock wheel/tire size but genuine BBS wheels with not a nick on them. All service records, car fax, inspections, etc. 64K miles. This is my second - had '92 for a short period and had been looking all over USA for another (I'm in SoCalif.). Great trip home. Flew to Dallas where seller met me at airport, on to the bank to do the deal. Got the keys, looked the car over, stuck the Valentine One to the windshield and started for home (in stages). First 360 miles went by some really pretty country at an avg. of 85 mph with some stages at 100 - car is rock steady, calm, quiet. V1 saves me twice. Overnight in Odessa, up and on the road at 7:30, covered another 600 plus miles to Tucson. Mostly at 80 to 90 - Texas and New Mexico are great in that the speed limit on interstate is 80. Took the SC up to 120 at one point and again, rock steady. The Nakamichi stereo was great, but I found myself turning it off and just listening to the muted whoosh of the air and tires on the road. V-1 saved me a few more times. Tucson Hilton at about 4:30 PM. Up at 6, on the road by 7:30, transition from I10 to I8 over the Laguna mountains and into San Diego. Onto the 5 and home to OC. A little over 1500 miles in all. What a great, mile-eating car for a long trip. Spent Sat. afternoon and Sunday Am claying, polishing, waxing, leather treating. Great car, great trip. I haven't taken pix since polishing her up. I'll post digital file after taking some pix. I love the wheels even if only 16" but gonna drop it an inch with Eibachs when I get new shocks.

Ended up at $12K. Sorry about pics . . . I may be the only man in CA w/o a digital camera, but will have buddy take some pics when I return from Mexico.
My '92 SC and just about every other car I looked at had the sort of beige interior, and I really like the black leather in mine. One thing that I didn't mention that I found remarkable was the fuel economy from that V8. I literally averaged about 80 mph, running a/c quite a bit. Filled the car 3 times and calculated 23.5, 25.1 and 24.5 mpg! My other car is a 2000 Audi A4 1.8t. Light footing that car on mixed fwy driving I get maybe 24 mpg at best.

Sounds like quite a drive. Congrats on your new SC. How does it drive compared your your '92?
