The point of wide/low offset wheels is so you can run a much wider tire, thus putting more traction on the ground for launching/road racing etc.
with this set-up now, it's defeating the purpose of even having wide rims and a wide body since it's not even functional.
If you look at the last pic, he would have more traction from running bicycle tires in the rear. He would also see a power gain, because bike rims are much much lighter, and wouldn't be dragging around all that dead weight. lol.
From a performance standpoint. you would have a much better performing car stock, then what this is right now. So technically, it's a downgrade.
But don't get me wrong, I would give this car an A++++++++ if the rear camber was set between -0.5 and -1.0
But it's his car and his name is Camber SC, if that's what he wants he defiantly got it!
and UZZ-TT, you built a pretty sick boosted 400, I know you wouldn't run those TE37's at such a gnarly camber.
I'm boosted right now, and I'm going to be running 18x12.5 CCW's in the rear, but my camber will be around 1.0

btw good luck running all of that 1.0 degree of camber. for track use that would be enough. you will be overheating the outer edge of the tire and effecctive reducing your grip. so your alignment setting are impractical for track use

low offset wheels are not meant for racing so your statement is false. if you look at any racecar it runs generally a very high offset wheel because it is not done for looks. you want the center of the wheel to be over the pivot axis of the spindle. you will not fit any purpose built cars running low offset wheels. not good for turn-in and vehicle dynamics in general.
good luck fitting your 12.5" wheels and whatever size, 355?, tire you want. you dont need that much tire to hook up. i doubt you are putting down enough to make them worth it.
simply put if you dont like it then just say that. no need to tell him to do what you think is right.
