So I decided to change my valve cover gasket and do a tune up on the car. found a lot of oil around the spark plugs. Also Changed the spark plugs, wires, distributor can and rotor and cleaned the throttle body. Needless to say the car runs a lot better now. Just need a re-tune now to bring the AFRs to optimum level

Yeah thats too much oil sitting there.. it gets down into the spark and can cause it to run bad. You prolly just needed to replace the plugs.
