Default sc300 suffering on the way home..... ideas?

ok im heading home from work and suddenly my battery light going on, shorting after that my radio turns off. as im 2 blocks to my house my lights turn off and the car starts to struggle going up my driveway. im thinking it might be my alternator because i just change my battery to optimum redtop half a year ago? do these symptoms sound like a bad ALT? i let it sit for 5 minz and tried to start it up and it would struggle a bit and start but after a 2 minz or so it would start to slowly die out again loosing interior and exterior lights slowly....... also idled rough on the first seconds of the startup. any ideas? thanks!

It does sound like a bad alternator. Same thing happened to my SC3 last summer. It also wouldn't hurt to clean some grounds and make sure they are tip-top shape.

Sounds like the alternator, but I know where bangdangvn is going with the dropped question. There is a harness that runs in the driver fender wheel well that if you were dropped could have rubbed through the harness causing the problem.. Just some food for thought. Let us know what the end result is. By the way if it is the alternator, there are two different styled plugs on the sc depending on year. make sure you get the right one.

They're just as good as any other replacement alternator.

However, I would HIGHLY recommend having the alternator tested before you bring it home to install it. We've had quite a few problems with DOA alternators from Autozone. But the lifetime warranty is really nice to have
