sc400 price cheaper than sc300
I was lookin at cars.com at a bunch of sc300/400s and I could on the average get used from a dealer sc400 cheaper than a sc300 any reason why? Also how is the power on a sc300 compared to a sc400

Doesn't the 2JZ-GE have to swapped in its entirety for its turbo counterpart, the 2JZ-GTE? I'm not sure as to what makes each motor totally different (except the turbos of course), but the power differences between the SC3 and the SC4 are totally different.
I could understand if the price for the SC300 was higher if the GE motor only needed some component upgrades rather than the entire engine to have forced induction like the GTE. That would make it much more appealing to a consumer.
I guess if you're going for a swap it for a GTE it would be better to get the SC4 then... Unless the SC3 is a 5spd.

GE and GTE block are identical other than the GTE has oil squirters and different pistons(lower compression ratio). side note: vvti GE has weaker rods than non-vvti GE's.
All you need is to get a OEM TT HG or thicker aftermarket one and ARP head studs. Then a GE turbo kit (i.e. XS Power, Dave-H, etc..) or piece a kit together.
2JZGE/GTE both have more aftermarket support than the 1UZ-FE.

everyone says 2j/1j > 1uzfe.
That's cool and usually most agree to it but everyone know's how sexy a turbo v8 would sound w/ a manual tranny.
sexy.
Skip the "1j/2j is better than the 1uz because...."stuff.
Power on the SC3/4's aren't extremely noticeable when driving. Both pick up around the same. Sc3's are probably more expensive because they come in 5spd's and they get turbo's slapped on them all the time...obviously the more popular of the two.
