96, 23K miles... hhmmm "Original Miles"? or did you mean 230K miles? It could be time for many other maintenance other than just a timing belt change.

But if that was original miles, I guess the belt are just too old if the car has been sitting a while and not driven or started regularly.

Good luck.

no i meant 23k original miles i took some pics but dont know how to put them up the way everyone else does it was driven under 2k miles a year which is not that much and its really clean. so you guys think it needs the timing belt changed and anything else you can think of will help but under the hood looks brand new so thats why im asking you guys. also if anyone knows how to put up pics please let me know it would help thanks

I would change it. I believe it's something like 6 years/90,000 miles for the timing belt service. I'm getting mine done next week. Not sure if it improves the performance/response of the car? It's a $1,230 job...

yes!!! change it! Belts and tensioners go bad over time... regardless of miles. They dry-rot if they're stored improperly/outside, tensioners fail from old age... please please please for the love of your engine, do a full tune-up and timing belt service.

i waited too long and my tensioner snapped in two, luckily i replaced the tensioner and the timing belt right after, so make sure to take care of that

how many times does a timing belt need to be changed in a cars life? respectively assuming the car lasts 30+ years with 300+k miles.
