Default Black box with hose?

Hi guys, I just got my SC300 a few months ago, and while checking out the trunk I saw something weird. I have no idea what it is. Here is a pic of it.

There is one on the other side of the trunk too. The hose goes out to the bottom of the car and up somewhere outside the trunk.

The box is the trunk and door vent. When you close the trunk and the doors it vents the air as you shut them.

The hoses are the drain hose from sunroof (one on each corner of the sunroof)

Every import I have ever owned has had these. Friend of mine asked the same thing though. Even Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc, trucks have them between the bed and the cab. Just a little fyi.

not just sunroof models, i have a hard top and the hoses, it drains water running down the windshield and trunk crevices,...

Ah cool. Guess I'll leave it in there then. My last car was an Acura and I never saw one in there. I was looking for some place to put an amp since there's not much space in these trunks. I have to say I have more fun driving the SC than any other car I've had though.

it could be a carbon canister for evaporative emissions it would make sence because the top hose could go to the gas tant for vapors and the bottom sounds like the purge.
