Default Anyone ever had an issue with the pioneer radio draining the battery?

The previous owner of my 1996 SC400 said the radio drains the cars battery after turning the car off.

Anyone else had this issue? I don't know if simply swapping the radio for an aftermarket one will fix the problem.

I have the fuse for the radio taken out to prevent any draining, but I decided to put it in not to long ago just to test out the system. It sounds pretty damn good. Not great, but damn good.

It would be awesome if anyone could give me any clue as to what I should do.

How can you know what the problem is, but not know if removing it completely from the vehicle will fix it? (I'm being serious)

Well, I removed the fuse and I believe that fuse is solely responsible for the radio, therefore isn't it safe to assume that it's the radio?

I have a Pioneer and had a draining problem too. Thought it was the deck, it wasn't. Did a parasitic drain test and noticed there was a problem in my dome light.

If you removed the fuse for the deck and the draining problem went away, you should probably take it to a professional to do the re-install so it doesn't happen again. Probably best to go to someone who has done SCs before. You won't have any luck just replacing it since the wires end up connecting to the same wires on the deck, just a different deck.

I gotta bump this just to see what anyone else has to say...

I hate driving and hearing someone else listening to their radio...
