I have a headlamp for an SC that I have blacked out the inside and also smoothed out the lens itself. There are no lines, just clear lens. Talk about a PITA!! I have now acquired a damaged GS400 hid headlamp that I am going to use to convert this lamp into hid. Has anyone else tried this?

man this crap took me 1 whole day just to do half of one side. its still not done yet. it takes FOREVER to sand down all those little lines. so far i only sanded down the small ones. haven' even touched the big ones yet. they take too dam long and too much sand paper. how did you do it and what did you use?

How did you get the lenses clear?

I've cleaned out all the lines but the lens does not want to get clear again... it stays a milky white.

Sorry, no photos.

I had to use all different grits of sand paper by hand, the lens still has some minor scratches but I think they will come out with a little more work. A friend of mine owns a body shop and he has some small sanding disc about 1.5" in diameter, they are made by 3M and include a little adapter to fit on a drill or die grinder. I believe I will try these on my next light, should make things a lot easier.

Good luck to anyone else who tries this, it is a job! Shane

Hey whats up Nick. How is your car after your wreck?? i'm still hittin the gym 2-4 times a week gained about 2 pounds. lol. i'm still not eating right. i have 2 personal training session haven't used yet.

The way i got it to become more clear is i used this bottle from pepboys, kragens, and autostore. its blue top its called "Blue Magic" Plexiglass and plastic cleaner. light scratch remover. just put a thin layer on like wax. then wait 1-2 min till it kinda dries and take your hand and buff it out really fast and hard. keep doing it. takes like 4-5 repeated steps to finally clear up. i'm gonna open my housing up again and try to really get rid of them lines.

Nick, i would like to see before and after pics of your line removal. i don't think mine are that great yet. i'm in the process of having a custum acrylic lens made for my headlights. Its going to be super super super super clear just like 94+ honda accord, honda civic, Toyota 4 runner, Lexus GS 2nd gen, newer SC430, LX, ES, LS, and many many many more cars. its going to be super clear with ZERO lines. so my retrofit will be at its optimal light output.
