what does pwr button mean next to shifter?

Default what does pwr button mean next to shifter?

i got a 97 sc300 auto, and was wondering what that button next to the auto shifter that reads "PWR" . is that traction control or what?

It holds first and second gear longer till about 4k RPM instead of usual 3k RPM.

This is on my 1993 LS400.

does it help for anything?? faster 0-60? is there a point to it?

ETC is set to power and you floor it, it should go to red line before it shifts. When its turned of or normal it shifts at a lower rpm.

At half throttle, I get far higher shifts (500-1K rpm) in POWER mode than in NORMAL mode. It also is easier to drive in stop/go traffic. Yes, it affects your gas mileage somewhat if you drive it stop and go a lot.
