Default Strange AFR Issue...DAMMIT! Someone come to the rescue

97 SC3 NAT. Cruising down the hwy at about 3600rpm and boom- car shuts off. I throw the tranny in neutral and try to start it- no dice. Tried until the battery died. New battery the next AM and it cranks right over. I'm driving it home and I notice that the AFR is spiking on and off with steady pedal pressure. The next day I start the car cold and it starts pig-rich (9's) and then slowly climbs way lean and if I let it keep going it will eventually shut itself off. Pump Relay is good, pump flow-tested fine, everything's got the right current, switched my map on the ME2 to a richer one and it still does the same thing. I checked my log and it shows a TPS spike right as the AFR starts going lean and will do the same thing if I burp the throttle to interrupt it's climb. Any ideas?

Here's a short list of all the parts I have that people may need to know to help solve the issue-there's tons more and if you need to know just ask: pt71, cams & oversized valvetrain, MapEcu2 (p.o.s.- don't ever buy one if you're trying to make decent power), sx external pump, 900cc injectors and aftermaket rail

car shuts off while driving... maybe a air leak.

I would check the fuel delivery setup since its not steady.

Car slowly leans over 2-3 min whether it's sitting and idling or under load. Injectors are firing and I did check the pump, filter, and relay. I talked it through with someone and all we could think of is the Water Temp Sensor possibly taking a crap and never telling the ECU to quit pulling fuel back once the car's warm.

temp sensor or a vacuum leak..my na-t was doing the same thing and couldnt figure it out for life of me, then a friend of mind pointed out the vac line that was just hanging freely that I never noticed..

then again, your car is on a whole different level than mine..
