Default curb rash, scratched rims...

I got some curb rash on the lips of my bbs lm reps. Anyone know how to repair machined lips? These are machined polished with a clear coat over it. I got the damage with going into a gas station car wash....(last time Im doing that). The mechanisms on the floor scratch my rims. This is why I got reps, Im pissed I scratched these rim, imagine if it was a set of $4,000 legit bbs?

I only have experience with fully polished lips. Which can be sanded and polished out quick. What do I do with machine and clear coat? Is the only way to strip the clear and re machine on a lathe?

Anybody have pictures of machined lips they tried to repair? I know I can sand and polish it still. The look wont match the original machined polish but should look better I think.

Also, how many people are just rolling with curb rash? got pics? This request is mainly to make myself feel better, so I know Im not alone...lol

LOL, if you see my wheels you would be trying to hide yours away from me. Well most of the rash was from the previous owner and I just didn't really care for them since they had rash already.

My SP1s have crazy curb rash from the previous owner... and one just got bent hitting a pothole at 15mph.. damn stretched tires I'm probably going to send my wheels in soon to get redone. Do you have the lineas or chikaras? I might pick up chikaras soon.. after getting a bend I really don't feel like buying baller wheels anymore

two weeks after i got my machined EXE's i hit a piece of curb that was sticking out in a parking deck to hide a piece of conduit. caused a good amount of damage and i was PISSED. i've talked to a place about fixing it and they said its possible. just not on the top of my list right now.

alright, so i knew these pics would come in handy, so heres what i did,

first i cleaned the crap out of the rims, (good degreaser and pressure washer did the trick) if your not gonna paint the rims make sure the degreaser is safe for your rims surface/clearcoat....

next youll need yo shave the affected lip areas with a metal file till its relativley smooth or even with the rest of the lip...

now you proceed to sand the lip progressively raising the grit of the paper, ie 220g 320g and so on, the more time you take in this step the better the results

and now your just about finished, you can either clear the lip with dupont rim clear or you can use a good metal polish/protectant to bring out the deep shine that the rim once was,... i used the eagle metal polish in the can worx like a charm, now i take no responsibility if you jack your rims up, this is just a step by step to assist others if there willing to try if you guys wanna see the paint process i believe i have some pics i can throw on here showing the finished product, GL

Thanks guys for the feed back. Made me feel better about my situation...hah I was able to clean up the scratches/gouges a bit tonight with some blue magic metal polish. Not good as new but about 20 percent better than before.

scboy = My rims are lineas. But I seen chikaras, they look similiar and similiar pricing also. THe only difference is lineas have more color choices.

2turbo1sup = I wish I had fat tires, but with this offset they wont fit under the fender. daym stretched tire.

sueno2jz = Nice work!

You could run a 265/30 on the rear, but you would need to run around -3.5 camber to clear the stock rear fenders. Of course that's if you want to be low.
