Driving w/o power steering is dangerous but doable, it could damage the alternator.

I have a similar problem. I've owned mine for 2 weeks and I believe I have a leak in my rack. It's drip drip drip underneath my seat in the pan. I have not put it on a lift yet but will this weekend. I've topped power steering fluid and am staying away from stop leak stuff... I hope it's just the rack.

Hope your repair goes well.
