Rally prep progress!! Pics inside!
Hey guys, I'm getting ready for the Exotics Rally Turkey Run for Charity 2009 and got around to polish my car. For anyone attempting to do this, is it hard and time consuming. You should most definitely hire a professional.
All I got done today was most of the hood.
What I did:
Sanded with 1000grit
Sanded with 2000grit
Washed, dried
Clay barred
Used a PC with Meguiar's Ultra cut compound, at around 4k rpm.
this is only one step of the process, as I havent even gotten to the polish and wax yet, but I like how it came out.
Here's a shot of the door, with nothing done to it. Orange peeled mess, not very glossy.
You can barely see my outline:
Now here's what I did on the hood:
Clearly see my outline and details:
Neighbor's house:
I also polished the headlight, looks near mint, and I also de-lined the housing from the inside:
I'll update tomorrow when i'll get more done.
Let me know what you guys think!

hmm..
Yeah, it looks like you sprayed it dry. Most single stages need a light tach coat followed by a medium wet coat. The outcome after all that sanding looks good though. Next time you shoot with that gun -- up the air pressure and slow down your pattern.
