95-96 to 92-93 Tail Light Conversion
I have been searching for the answer but cant find. sorry if im posting if the answer is on the forum. I have a 92 sc300 and just ordered some 95 sc300 tail lights. is it a direct swap meaning plug and play or do I have to modify anything or buy additional parts to complete the swap. thank you in advance to all.

first off you threw me off with the title...lol
95/96 tails to 92-93. i was gonna be like whyyyyyyy?
and yeah i believe the 95's will work just fine. definetly no modification needed. the only thing is you might get the bulb out warning in the dash or hyper blink. but that may only be for 97 tails. let us know

Thought this thread was a little thread-bare... So I figured I'd shed some lights on it...
In the pics are some differences in the light housing. I had cracked tail on the right side causing it to fill with water and as a result I had light housings with rust so thick it was impossible to pull out the bulbs. One set of pliers later and they were all out and the metal connector portion and the lights themselves were in tiny rusty trash ***** resembling wadded up rusty 'big red' chewing gum wrappers..
Dremel tool to the rescue and the rust on the harness mounts was a thing of the past, hopefully never to return again.
I realize this is an OLD thread and I appreciate anyone saying "dude, fuggin' search for that **** before you bump a 100 year old thread" but this was what my search turned up along with less lucrative information just speculating on what might be...
I like the look of the '92's better than the eBay Supra copies, I like them better than the stock '96's... at least the ones I have.. and I like them a metric F*@K ton better than I like the '97's and up. I might like the '92's more with just white instead of the amber or maybe even all red with the reverse lens in the stock '92 location but until I find the perfect aftermarket solution or I find a way to print my own my '96 is gonna be all retro and in my opinion better than before.

If you don't like it get over yourself. And stop bickering over dumb s#!t on Facebook.. you make us all look petty and dumb. Hell he might not even own an SC that lying sonofa*****! Stance that s#!t, drift it, drag it, or show it just keep these things alive and outta the landfills and junkyards. Back of stock '96 tail light. Note the blinker light mounts are slanted and mount in a sideways fashion.. also note The number of light mounting holes. I count 7 total light housing mounts.

'92 tails. The mount for the Amber colored portion of the light housing (blinkers) totals 3. Also note the larger housing for the lights themselves. Larger than the '96 blinker mounts. Almost seems an oddball size hole just going from memory.
'96 tails upper portion which I believe are the brake lights. Again they seem an odd size but these are on the smaller side. I say odd but I'm sure they are a common bulb size. I just seem to remember all the tail lights on my '95 GS being the larger housing mount. Standard oem bulb for the brake lights is 1156 on the '96 SC. It seems the 1157 is the bulb for the '92 SC. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS FROM DATA GATHERED QUICKLY FROM THE ADVANCE AUTO PARTS SITE. Other sites said they were the same bulb.
Stock '96 tail lights
The two compared side by side. '92 on the left, and '96 on the right. Personally I prefer the look of the '92 and I'm going to mount these on my car tonight or tomorrow hopefully. If I can locate a definitive answer on what to do with the extra light without throwing a 'taillight' code.
