Scheib and Maaco are the same company, use the same paints, and hire the same half brained employees..and doesnt matter what you do after they paint the car, sooner or later its going to flake, chip, fade, etc...
either vinyl, paint it yourself, or leave it be and save some money till you can get it painted by a reputable shop

dont go with cheap paint at all the clear will fade within the next 2-5 years. Its way better if you go to a good shop or at least decent that use a lifetime clear and ppg paint. It also depends if your going for a 3 stage paint its more pricey its all what you want. I work at a shop most cars go for around $4000-$5000 for a good paint job. To bad your not in the san bernardino area.

man i didnt know my thread was still going
,
but as a little update i still have not painted the car, i got a friend whos dad owns a shop and will give me a deal on a full paint job, what kind of a deal is a different question but thats one option, another option is to buy some house of color and have a friend spray it in his garage, prep and finishing would be done by me, so still looking over my options at the moment but the more i see the maaco jobs in my area the more i want to shy away from there company all together... ill keep this thread in mind and take some before and after shots whenever i get the car finished

It's so much easier when you have a friend that paints. I've gotten 2 good paint jobs within a year. One of them was a candy gold job with graphics on my mini truck and the other was the hot chocolate job on my sc300. My sc300 cost me maybe $450 in materials and $1100 for labor. In return for the candy gold job I'm gonna recover a set of seats for a car of his. What does a Maaco paint job cost these days anyway?

why not just go by the shops in question and view the cars that they have completed.
As for me i choose earl schieb after i had my friend prep it. i also took off all the things that i didnt want over spray on (lights, exhaust, ic and piping, antenna, etc...). 3 years later i have plenty of rock chips from the road, but its my daily and i abuse it. other than that i still get thumbs up from people on a daily.
