Default ECUs - Buying new, used or rebuilt?

I may have the need for a replacement ECU for my '93 SC4. I was wondering (for those who have had the need to replace theirs) which route you took to replace your ECU ... did you buy new (expensive), used (risky) or have them rebuilt?

Thanks ...

When i had a issue with my ECU i just went with a standalone ecu from AEM. i had planned to do it in the future but the timing just came sooner than expected.

most people buy used. Look up aliga, he will hook up up with one.
