Default Rear Brake Light Dash Warning Won't Turn Off

FIXED IT: REPORT IN MY LAST POST

Well I'm just about to give up on this and take out the bulb from behind the cluster.

All of my brake bulbs are working just fine, I can't figure out why this is illuminated.

I was told there might be a brake module or relay or something else that might have gone bad that checks the bulbs?

Any ideas before I remove the bulb in the cluster?

Do you have the correct tail lights for your model year? Do you a third brake light on the subwoofer cover or spoiler? Is it working? Do your reverse lights work?

yes I have a 96 with stock lights, yes I have the subwoofer cover one of the bulbs was out and I thought that was it! replaced both and they are now working and light didnt go off. my reverse lights work turn signals everything

dont have leds installed

should I replace all of the bulbs in case they are giving the wrong reading for some reason? I know my trunk was wet for a while if there was anything back there that would be affected by that

The light isn't only for brake lights. It's all the rear lights.

That light is useless. Yank it out!

You'll know if the light is out, there will be a cop in your rear view mirror.

I heard the reason why is you gotta have the exact volt/watt in the bulb, there are no substitution for it. Happen to my car, went to autozone to get a new bulb, the bulb worked fine but the dashboard rear light was still on. I read about it somewhere, so I went to lexus dealer to get the real bulb like $7! and the rear light turn off

Lightbulb hah

id replace all the 194 bulbs mine did the same thing and someone who i thought was O.L.T (the master of light) told me to change them all because one bulb giving a resistance causing the warning light. i replaced them and havent had the problem since. i used advance auto bulbs with no problem. dont get long life ones though just the regular. i think the long life ones trigger the warning light also.

That seems to be a design flaw for lexus.

Is it true I cant use the long life ones!?

I replaced the ones for the subwoofer cover with long life because its such a pain to get that thing off, do I need to replace those?

Guys I read some more old threads and decided to fix this once and forall.
This was more tricky for my car because it had an oil spoiler added with 3d brake light in it and I wasn't sure if that was causing the problem as well since I have the 3d brake light on the subwoofer cover and this is tapped into that maybe could have changed voltage etc.

I took off my tail lights, I read it was 4 nuts, its 3 on each side on my 96. This took 1 minute per side its right behind the black paneling really easy.

I went off of a suggestion from indiansc in another thread to see when the light comes on, mine wouldnt come on with just braking, or in reverse (have a manual), but when all the night lights were turned on. So that was the 3 194 running lights basically. I changed all 6, 3 on each side. they were all working but I guess old and not putting out the right signal to the ecu...once I did that the light is gone from my dash thank the lord this is over and I didn't have to remove it from the cluster because it is helpful so you dont get pulled over!

Default rear brake light dash light on

hi everyone. im new here. my name is steve. i live in nh and going to move to florida. ive read peoples problem with there rear dash brake light that came on and read some answers. i have a 2001 gs300. i put led bulbs in my plate light socket and not a problem for 8 months. i drove to florida and coming back the dash light came on. i check all lights and all were on. nothing out. i gooled this problem and this site came up. i went and looked for the 194 bulbs and every part store i went to have the long life bulbs. i asked about this and they gave me part #2825 bulbs. said they were european type. i removed the leds and replace them with these and still have the light on. should i remove the 2825 and go to lexus and buy all 7 bulbs 5 for the third brake and 2 for the plate? is there a relay or something else i can replace? seems like this is a problem people are having. thanks for your answers and hope to keep reading from all.
