^ Seriously +1.....another bash to Nazifornia....
I honestly see NO point in front mounted plates. If cops are chasing you they are always going to be behind you, so what purpose do those front plates serve? Seems like a source of income is all.

well, a buddy of mine who is in the NYPD told me that their radar guns shoot lasers at the reflective coatings on the license plates on oncoming cars. This helps cops "read" your incoming speed and is usually where cops aim at when they point their lasers at your car to detect your speed more "accurately".

So i thought I would tell everyone what eventually happened:

After getting into a intense argument with the bureaucratic ***** working at the city's office about license plates he was able to convince me that I need to get a front plate. The law in California states that if your vehicle was only issued one plate, that is all you are required to show. According to the little *****, almost every car in california is issued 2 plates and it is a rare case to only be issued 1. He didn't buy the fact that an SC300 with a 5spd is a rare car. He did also tell me that if I got it fixed and signed off the fee would be reduced to $10.

So long story short I went to the DMV to get 2 new plates, but I still was determined to not have to put one on the front of the car. So I zip tied the plate to the front bumper, took i to a ghetto *** police station in east oakland where they have more important things to do than sign off fix-it tickets, got the ticket signed off and took the plate off again. Also cops don't even like meter maids, he was sympathizing with me when I showed him my ticket, and said " just to let you know we have no affiliation with the parking enforcement and all they should be doing is checking meters."

Since this I have gotten 2 more tickets from the same a$$ hole parking ****, that patrols around my high school. However I have solved this problem by just parking in the school lot instead of on the street.

To all of you out there who don't want to have a front plate just use zip ties like I did. Its totally worth having to pay the $10 each time than getting a front plate put on.

This makes me glad that I don't live in California or Texas anymore. In Oklahoma, we only have to have 1 license plate. You can basically do anything you want to your car since we don't have emissions, and cops don't care about exhaust, tint, or anything else like that.

Yea that would be nice to not have to deal with all the smog bs and emissions. The state doesn't realize that car emissions are a drop in the bucket in terms of hurting the environment its the factories and refineries that are the major problem. Given the choice I would much rather live in Cali than anywhere else even if i didn't have to put up with emissions and dumb a$$ cops elsewhere, its just so nice here.

I actually got a ticket years ago for not having the front plate PROPERLY or PERMENENTLY mounted (or something stupid like that). It was held on with bailing wire, but I still got a ticket. I had to go to Pick-a-Part and get the little plastic inserts that snap into the bumper (this was on a '78 Corolla, with the old school steel bumper), bolt the plate on, and get it signed off.

I was really nervous getting it signed off because the car had a JDM twincam engine, header, no cat, and a Flowmaster 2 chamber muffler (which is why I had the front plate on in the first place--I knew it was required and didn't want any MORE attention from the cops). I parked so you could see the front of the car from inside the station, and luckily the cop just looked out the window and signed me off.

$90 in Oakland? Wow! They're only $27 out here in L.A.

But yeah, California is slowly turning into a Fascist/Totalitarism state...Socialist Democrats are to blame.

I think your perspective might change a little bit when you are paying your own bills young buck. I'm not so far removed from being your age that I cant remember that the aesthetic quality of my vehicle trumps all logic, but I can tell you that it is NOT worth it. If the money isnt enough for you to throw away, why deal with the aggravation? I mean taking a stand for a social ill is one thing, but a licence plate? We have to have them here is VA and my FL grown SC I just bought does not have one. And I'm not driving it until I get one. I don't want these VA super troopers and local mudducks pulling me over or giving me a ticket for a damn thing. The law is the law, no matter how many hard boiled goatnutz it sucks.
