I see some leakage and corrosion (radiator fluid) i think it's from the heater control valve. The repair guy said it's a hot water valve and firewall something blah blah. He said the dealer charges $500 for it. I got a quote from american lexus and they're selling it for $280 + $5 s/h.
It's a black unit located on the passenger side. It's located close to the wipers but underneath the hood of course.
Anybody here know how to replace it? Is it pretty simple? Any tricks i should be concerned about? Special tools?
This can save me $300 if i do it myself.
thanks in advance guys and gals....

Look for aftermarket heater valve. It should be a whole lot cheaper than OEM. Try calling your neiborhood autopart stores for stock. I haven't replace that valve yet, but from the look, it should not be difficult to replace and no special tools required.

The one pictured is not like the one on your 92. The 92 used a pull cable actuated by the mixing vane servomotor. Newer ones (shown?) had their own dedicated servomotor.
And you are not likely to find a source other than Lexus.
