Default Honey, what's that burning smell?

It's you being a dumb broad, that's what. I go through the trouble to gut and rebuild this SC inside and out and what does she do? Drives the car for 6 months and never mentions the window is sagging and not rolling completely up, leaving about 1/4 inch of space at the top.

So we get these heavy rains from the storms over the last week and there are rockslides on the mountains and stuff from how wet it is and she drives the car yesterday and says "honey you need to go out and find that burning smell in the car". I'm like........... K. Well you have to go with me since I can't SMELL anything, right? SO let's go.

She can't trace the smell down to anywhere particular, it's too bad it didn't smell like a credit card. She's have tracked it from 3 blocks.

Today I get in the car and I hear my foot go SQUISH. I look down the floor mat is wet. Yeah I guess you do smell a burning smell, it's the electrical system you $*(&^^. Instantly I blame the sunroof seals and pull the carpet but as I am vacuuming I make a discovery.

So without further adudes......... Here's some vids of me trying to breathe and explain the issue. I'm running on a combination of pissed off (nws?) and severely congested.

Oh man, if I had a girlfriend and she did that to my poor SC, I would (as Tom Leykis would say) "D.T.B."!

So she's in my is300 today when I figure all this out...... She comes over for lunch before heading back to work and I give her the questions about did you see this, hear that, whatever..... Ofcourse not.... No.... Nothing. Didn't notice the 3 inches of standing water sloshing because of the radio noise..... Mmmmmk. Then I remembered hearing my IS pull up and I realize the problem is repeating itself. "get out, I'll drive you to work".

Sorry to hear bro!! Women can be completely oblivious to the things that THEY don't consider important or worth while.
But no, when it comes to something they need, it's the damn french revolution + WWI & II.

Glad you sourced the problem and hope it comes out well!

Meh it's just water. Gives me a chance to clean it real good anyway. I have just been concerned with the issue of the smell, which my neighbor cannot trace to an electrical smell. He says it smells more like your average under the hood oil smell so maybe we just got lucky all around. Car runs fine so.... long as it doesn't burst into flames .......all good.

I stripped a complete running car in 2005 so I'm kinda like if something melts.... whatever I've got the part. Everything looks ok at the moment though.

this is the reason why i don't let anyone borrow or use my car. The car has been modified and is no longer OEM "idiot proof." Friend of mine w/ an A4 with a boost controller lent his car to his dad for a weekend with a promise to fill the tank when he's done. Come monday morning....the car is pinging. Turns out his dad forgot that the car needs high octane. Simple matter of turning the boost down, but no permanent damage is evident yet. Could've been a lot worse.

Time to find her a junker she can screw up w/o making you feel terrible.
