![Question](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I've heard mixed opinions all around about this, and I just wanted a sort of consensus...should window tint on a back windshield with defrost lines be done in strips...or does it matter? I ask because I got mine tinted and they were 'not' done in strips and i now have bubbles appearing along the defrost lines. However, it was cold and rainy the first few days after it was done so I'm thinking condensation might be the culprit...opinions?

I've never seen back window done in strips and I doubt its worth it for the shop to do that unless they charge more. Usually they'll give you some kind of lifetime warranty from it bubbling up. Take it back to the shop and have them fix it.

Yeah I can see 'if' I had used the defrost, that it would mess it up, but I didn't...I know better than that lol. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the cold humidity that was going on when I got it done...I was just curious, but I talked to them and they 'are' gonna fix it, even if it needs to be redone. FYI 20% sides, 5% rear and top, 80% over the entire windshield (yea I know it's illegal lol)

Tint bubbles due to the material used and the installer. If prep is not done properly it will bubble, cheap tint material bubbles as well. People think tint is all the same but it's not. Some tint places use a blow torch to soften/shrink the material, good installers are careful and use a heat gun to slowly shrink the tint.
If the tint is done correctly with quality tint then it won't ever bubble. I have tint that's over 5 years old and all it did was fade a little. No bubbles anywhere all one piece over the defroster lines.
