tune up
Hi, I'm planning to tune up/maintenance my car. I have list of what I wanna do here. If it's easy I wanna try myself. But can you tell me if I should ask my mechanic to do any of following? (I wanna ask him when he does oil change for me)
and also is there things I dont need to do or need to do other than the lists? I have about 135k now. well I dont have major problem with it
- plugs
- ROTOR, WIRE, cap, coil (should I change coil?)
- Clean Injectors
- Clean throttle body
- Flush brake fluid
- Flush P/S fluid
- Valve Clearance
- Fuel tank cap gasket replacement (does it go bad?)
- change ATF
- rear trans mounts
- engine flush?
Thanks

Re: tune up
Things you can do yourself:
- plugs Yes
- ROTOR, WIRE, cap, Yes
- Clean Injectors Not need
- Clean throttle body Yes (as long as you can take the throttle body out)
- Flush brake fluid Yes (need two people for this)
- Flush P/S fluid Why?
- Valve Clearance Why? do you hear tapping noise?
- Fuel tank cap gasket replacement (does it go bad?) Not need
- change ATF Yes
- rear trans mounts Yes
- engine flush? Regular oil change should be enough

Re: tune up
- plugs , <YES>
- ROTOR, WIRE, cap <YES> coil (should I change coil?) <Only if it goes bad which rarely happens>
- Clean Injectors <YES if DIY, hold off if you need a Pro>
- Clean throttle body <YES>
- Flush brake fluid <YES>
- Flush P/S fluid <YES, clean the filters too>
- Valve Clearance <YES, if it has been awhile but be prepare to replace the shims if out of specs>
- Fuel tank cap gasket replacement (does it go bad?) <YES, when it leaks. Besides emission inspection problem, good gas seal is necessary for proper operation of modern fuel injection system>
- change ATF <YES>
- rear trans mounts <YES, only when needed>
- engine flush? <YES, if it has been running on non-syn oil>
All of the above are DIY except for proper cleaning of injectors.
