Default mpg's sc 400

just wondering what kind of mileage stock vehicles are getting.
my 92 averages almost 23, with a little stop and go, but got 26 on recent interstate road trip.

Get around 24 on HWY and 18-19 city, with normal driving. Have straight exhaust and BFI mod.

I get the same as him on my 96'. That's with conservative driving too. The BEST I have ever gotten was 26 mpg with the seat and spare tire out.

How do you find out what your gas mileage is on an SC without the meter on the dash? I have a 92 and I've only seen them on 97+ SC's.

Take how many miles you get in a tank...then divide the number by how many gallons are in the tank....there ya go...miles per gallon

300 miles with a 20 gallon tank... = 15MPG

BTW my 97 didnt have a MPG calculator. None of them do as far as I know.

^along the same lines but I thought the formula was start with a full tank and take the number of miles traveled divided by how many gallons refilled?

Lol, I thought the same thing. I got MAYBE 280/tank in my 400. It was crappy. You can try any of these to get better mileage.
Fuel Filter
Spark plugs
Rotor caps
air filter
just make it tip top mechanical condition

It depends what city too. Up in san luis obispo, i'm averaging like 11-12mpg city because there are stop signs like every 12 feet and you never go past 35mph.

Here in santa clarita, the roads are wide and speed limits are 45-50mph and I usually average 16-19mpg.

So it usually depends where and what kind of conditions.
