i dont wanna sound like a **** but you need to learn how to drive and get right tires. i have driven my SC300 5spd(no traction control) for 3 years in chicago winters with no issues. this winter is the first time i had blizzacks. before its usually been all season tires. the difference is....well there is no comparison.
btw my sc has a welded diff too. one of the best things i have ever done to the car. in the winter(fisrt year) the car was 1 wheel drive.
good luck and get some good tires. if you are serious about being safe and perform well year round you need at least 2 sets of tires. summer and winter tires.
i have at least 3 sets on hand at all times. summer tires, winter tires, track tires(some r compounds) and spares just in case.

Michelin X-Ices FTW!!! That combined with ETC and ABS are super helpful in getting through most anything that gets thrown at it.
I was struggling with the iced over sloped driveway to my underground garage area, but I backed up onto the dry concrete and got a running start and had enough momentum to get through the ice.
FWIW, I'm running a square setup of 225/45/17s on 17x8.0 Supra TT front wheels. Hella-sunken but who cares when you can pass 4x4's?!

I would rather drive RWD in the snow the FWD. In FWD if you start sliding all you can do is hang on for dear life.
All you need is a LSD and All season tires.
Theres a reason snow trucks are rwd.
You don't see cops, postal workers, bus drivers complaining.
If you can't drive a RWD car in the snow your skill level is sub par.
I see old people driving MB's, BMW's, Lexus', Infiniti's in the snow just fine, and they are OLD!
Buy a horse. They have ALD and traction control.

i've never had mine stuck and i live in eastern canada. i just put some snow tires on it and that thing is better than my old fwd tercel. the weight really helps. and it really comes down to level of experience.

Man, I can't tell you guys HOW MANY TIMES I got stuck in the snow/ice/slush today. We got like 2-3 feet of snow here in Baltimore and I got stuck 3 DIFFERENT TIMES IN IT! My SC300 is my first RWD car and the thing handles great in warm weather/dry conditions, but in the snow it SUCKS. I had to have 3 different sets of people help me push my car out of snow on the ground/street that wasn't even an inch deep lol. It also doesn't help because I have summer tires on there and not snow tires (not sure if snow tires even make a difference). But I thought I'd just share with you guys my experiences today with RWD in the snow. Ridiculous lol. ![Thumb Down](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsdown.gif)

Like I said though, this is my first RWD car and that is why I'm not perfect at driving it yet like you guys. I've only been driving the car for 3 months and this was the FIRST time I drove it in the snow so that is why I'm not perfect at it yet. The main problem was that there were so many patches of ice/snow on the road, like half the road would be plowed, then all the road would be plowed, drive up a little further on the road and its not plowed. So none of that helped either. I'm sure if I had my snow tires I woulda been fine. But we all need to learn sometime right? No one will master it overnight.

Just do like we used to in povince of Quebec, Canada...store your car during winter and buy a winter beater with winter tires(The law here imposed that..)!!
