Default ECU Which do I need

I've recently purchased a wiring harness for a 2jzgte spliced with that of a 97 sc3. I'm going to be purchasing a gte and doing a single turbo build on it. I'm going to be running an R154 5spd. I'm trying to figure out what ECU I'll need and what type of fuel management/tuner I'll need.

The guy I'm thinking of buying the engine from says he has a 94 6 speed ECU he can sell for me $150.

I'm a little clueless on how the wiring is setup. If someone could explain even the basics to me, I'd be happy.

Thanks,
Ben

Is an Auto ecu going to throw codes at me for stupid things like. "Cant find a transmission sensor"? Also, Do I need a Supra ECU or a SC300 ecu?

I'm pretty sure VVTi runs the same plugs as JZZ30, with just a different pinout.

It will NOT throw codes.

Bridge the wiring to the auto transmission so that it tells the ecu that you are in park or neutral to start the car.

Rewire the reverse lights to come on when you put the manual trans in reverse.

My brother is about the drop a 2j turbo engine in his 1j manual converted soarer. To do this he can keep the auto or manual ecu. But to get the ecu to talk to the 2jz engine you use the 1jz ecu and an emanage ultimate with the required plugin harness. Tell the emanage software you are using a 2j turbo engine in the ignition, timing and other mapping departments.

Hope this helps

Thanks guys. You have all been helpful. I'm just not sure what "Emanage" is exactly.... Time to do some searching.

I bought an already "Dr Tweak Spliced" wiring harness for a GTE from a member here.

The one I'm looking at is a usdm out of a 98 supra I believe.
