Yeah... the O/D Off light flashing indicates an issue with the transmission electronics.

O D Main Switch & O D OFF Indicator Light Circuit
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The O/D main switch contacts go off when the switch is pushed in and come on when it is pushed out. In O/D
main switch OFF position, the O/D OFF indicator light lights up, and the ECM prohibits shifting to overdrive. The
ECM also causes the O/D OFF indicator light to blink when a malfunction is detected. In this case, connecting
the terminals in the DLC2 or DLC1 can display the malfunction code.

i get some bad shifts once in a while like going from 1st to fourth unintentionally.. Could the shift solenoids be the problem? Once in a while the od light will flash.

yes i had this prob like i mention above its the transmission solenoids, i thought i needed a tune up so i reaplace cap and rotor, ngk spark plug and ngk wires, distruber, pretty much everything and end up with the same problem, so i went to a junk yard found a sc400 took 4 solenoid off the transmission, and went home and put it in, it runs like a champ

ECM = Engine Control Modular

i just come across the same problem my car wont shift to 4th gear and when i press the overdrive button the car doesn't respond but the O/D light stays lit... but on the other hand i want to do a r-154 swap right after i boost which is really soon but my funds are no where close to that..!
