97 definitely.

Newer, better looking, less issues like cluster lighting and tail light leaks. I personally really hate the pre-95 tails.

However, if money is no option, get both.

Lol... Well I currently have both, look at sig But I'm thinking of letting one of them go, but which one? That's the reason I asked this question

I already have a car that is as fast as the 93 1J. Ofcourse I can tweak it a bit and end up with 350whp +/- on stock twins, but if I want more power, I need to go single. So if I have to buy a kit for the 1J, why not just buy it for the 2J and sell the 93. However; I feel the 97 is such a rare car, I don't wan't to mess with it too much, but I kind of started already, so here is my crossroad

it doesn't matter if the car has been twicked with..a cars value depreciates by the year, mileage, and the maintenance of the car...not the mods...your mods doesn't do anything to the car not matter what you you put into the car like wheels, intake, etc it does nothing to the cars value..your just pouring your money into it, you will never see it back only mods like a 2jzgte swap might increase the value a bit but not my that much

Sorry, but have to dissagree with.you.

You loose market not value.

Etherway, 97 manual SC' already only appeals to a small section in the market, just like moded vehicles. However; they are holding value better than other 1gen SC' because of their rarity.

The best bet, if I was truely be interested in getting a return from my 97, would be to leave it completely stock and store it for 25+. Then hope it becomes a collectors item. I'm not really intersted in doing that right now, nor do I care what the market wants. I'm just asking what SC lovers would chose

Not all mods. A nicely moded car will have better value vs a stock car, but you are removing your self from the majority of the market, but you will never get the full value return. Just like almost every item that's use.

I would go with the 97, mostly because I prefer to buy my cars bone stock and mod them myself....

i'd get the 97+ you can always boost the 97 down the road, but the 93 is always gonna be a older 93 5spd..
