Just found out yesterday, my 96' sc300 has an alarm. I just bought the car it's been in the shop since. So the alarm went off yesterday and it surprised me I thought it didn't have one. I put the key in the driver side door unlocked it and the alarm shut off. I'm wondering can I buy a replacement remote for the alarm that it has now? or would I have to install a new alarm?. I would like to keep the oem alarm. I searched for just alarm remotes online but can't seem to find any sold separately. Has anyone on here had this issue. Any help will be appreciated, I'm new to the lexus sc okay.

The OEM remote is built into the Key. About $300 new from the Dealer. You can find one cheaper on eBay but you will have to match it to the FCC ID on your keyless remote computer located under the rear passenger window behind the panel. You will also have to have it cut to match your locks.
Your best bet is to install an aftermarket remote and alarm, you can even add remote start.
That is what I am about to do.
