Default 92-96 molding that runfs down the car, should that be removed for 97+ sides?

So I have fender damage and plan on rweplacing the fender soon but i have noticed that on the first gen sc's theres this trim that runs along the bottom side of the car. Now I am picking up a 97 sides this friday and was wondering since i have the fender out right now do I just try and remove the side piece? and if so how does it come off of the door and the rear quarter panel?
