Default Amazing, the SC value is making a comeback

KBB market blue book value has always been stingy if you are a consumer, and always been inflated if you are a dealer or bargain hunter, but always been right for the market as a whole no matter who you are.

Two years ago an Sc400 with 200k on it would book around $4500.00 in excellent shape on www.KBB.com and the number stayed that way for a year or so, and that's about where I would see the numbers on the car lots.

I had just checked some figures for some of my other cars and punched in a 200k miles 1992 SC400 with no options checked and came back with $6,000.00. While this number is too high for an enthusiast forum on the internet, the real world has these clean '92's on the lot for exactly this price range (5k to 6k).

I checked and the black book prices are up as well. It appears as though this old dog might still have a little fight left.

Can anyone explain how this is possible? was it because of C4C and less of them on the road?

Prices go up, because of a significant spikes in demand...My theory? Douche bag noobs from the 240SX tuning scene are ditching/trading their S13/S14's for bigger, badder and cheaper rides, And the Lexus SC is unfortunately part of that list of cars...so yeah.

idk i head 20 years is a classic and 30 years is an atinque (thanks pawn stars,lol)...so a 92 should almost be a classic car and by 2022 it should be an antique!!!

Good thing I bagged mine for $400 before the price hike. It could have been $600!

Good to hear I was getting a little nervous based on what they are going for on Craigslist. At least we can get a little more leverage with the value.

The thing is, has anyone bought one for 6 grand yet? Ive seen 4 sc400's on craigslist for the past three months that are selling for 5 grand. All excellent condition.

Any dealer is going to give you Blackbook value for your trade, which is significantly lower than KBB.

A 96 SC400 in excellent condition with 131000 miles is like 50 bucks more in value than the 92 SC400...

Now that's just bad business...

The later models have held their value for the most part, but hardly anyone buys them.
