Default 2jz-gte into my sc300?

hi, im new to the site and the lexus world...

I have a 96 sc300 and I have a 94 2jz-gte, now my question is, would it be easier if i swap the whole motor in... or would it be easier to throw the head on the NA block and put the turbo internals out of the turbo motor and into the NA motor.

The problem is its an obd1 motor and there might be problems and road blocks trying to swap into the obd2 car, so i was thinkin just putting the turbo head on the NA, but still I dont even know what kind of problems i would run into....is there any hidden secrets or sensors or problems?

I couldnt find any info theads on the site, so i thought id ask

so I was just wondering if anyone had any info on this, so I know how to spend my money

thanks

welcome! to the wonderful world of club lexus =P

someone correct me if im wrong... but i would just drop the whole motor into your odb2 car, get a wire harness obd2, ecu obd2, and a engine piggyback system will help you defeat any problems running obd2.

Dont know about mixing parts but if i was going do it with those items you have i would do it like how i said above.

clubna-t is a good source for aftermarket obd2 configurations you should check them out.

if you already have the ecu and harness, just swap the whole thing..if not, sell all your NA stuff and buy the harness and ecu and swap it anyways.

yea thats what i was planning on, i just didnt know if i would run into anything rediculous, for example... i was in the wonderful world of honda and am a certified honda and ase tech, and built too many hondas to count, and with a honda when you swap in a obd1 motor into a obd2 car, you run into a bunch of emissions and electrical nightmares...

He sells a service which does harnesses and will definitely be able to answer your wiring questions.

Look up phoenix tuning. If you want, and if its possible, he could probably do the harness for you for less than a grand.

yea, that doesnt really help me that much...If theres anyone out there that has put a obd1 2j into an obd2 sc300, is it a pain in the ***/waste of time, or does it basically swap in like it would if i were to use an obd2 2j.

I just dont want to do the swap and have like 8 CEL's and cluster doesnt work, i have to make a super custom harness and fabricate, etc. etc. etc. .... i want to do everything right and have it clean.

99.9 percent change of being a pain in the *** if you don't involve dr. tweak. Especially for a OBD2/1 swap. There are a couple of guys that have done there harness themselves. For those two there are 20 who either give up or end up with a paperweight. It is doable and it is worth it, but I highly recommend you take the suggestions of phoenixtuning.com(dr. tweak) into consideration.

I did EVERYTHING on my engine swap from scratch....except the wiring harness and I would do it a million times over. GL
