Default Turbo set up under 4gs?

hey guys, new to the forum, and very intersted in the sc! So I'm leaning towards the sc and I come across the idea of buying a s14 and doing a rb30det set up. But after debating with my friend, he says 240s are on cops watch list and the 2jz is the way to go. It sounds great and all but I'm worried about money, I know rb would also be as expensive. Also his 500hp+ turbo set-up is around 10gs, and I don't have 10gs growing from trees.

In short "If I do get an is it possible to build a turbo for around 4gs and mods as you go?"

I want to know who the hell spent 10+ grand to make 500HP?

On a stock 2jz with a manifold, Junkyard Turbo, injectors and some misc parts you can rock 500HP all day long for like 1000-2000$

Not true. NA-t'ing will be plenty cheap if you piece together the right parts.

Egay manifold =350
Custom exhaust=400 in cali
R154 = 700 if you can find one " recommended"
driveshaft with adapter =600 "not necessary"
Supra Auto pumpkin= 600 " maybe taken out also"
Clutch setup to handle 500+whp =500 At the least
Regular POS turbo =600 please dont put a JUNKyard turbo on a DD
Proper injectors to handle 500whp at 80% =400 unless you wanna raise fuel pressure
Denso pump=250 Walbro=100
Headgasket=200-300
SAFC=300
Pedals +cylinder=300
Egay Intercooler and piping =200 at the very least

This adds up to 5250 so far!!!

I'm not even including Fuel lines, Gasket and seals, bolts, fittings, brackets, hoses, clamps, GUAGES and alarms, wires and looms, Oils and fluids, LABOR, LABOR, LABOR, or even tools to do it yourself.

Go ahead and imagine adding the following:

A REAL engine management that won't put a rod through your block, and harness
A low compression bottom end
ARP headstuds
Maybe some pistons and rings
New water pump
Oil pump
Beefed up internals for R154
Engine mounts that won't crack under torque
A responsive reliable turbo
Braided lines
Thick Radiator
Fans
Oil cooler
DLI
Wideband with guage
Boost ans misc gauges
Not gonna even touch suspension, wide wheels and nice tires.

It's possible to build a 500 whp turbo setup "only" and keep it under 4 K, you just have to be very basic and cut corners maybe. In the end you end up with a ticking bomb that won't have any headroom to improve, and barely able to go in a straight line, if lucky.

I think Charlie meant 10K for all the work, not just boost by the way.
