I've seen some pics of some cars with colored carbon fiber hoods, trunks, etc. etc.

Are they real c/f or just vynls?

Most carbon parts are fiberglass with a layer of real carbon overlay impregnated into the resin (mostly aesthetics). There are several ways to achieve that look, tinted clear coat over the hood or clear with heavy red pearl or red Kevlar with Carbon hybrid cloth impregnated into the resin.

No, no. I worked at a body shop and you just tint the clear the color you want it. I ordered a VIS and it was yellow. Long story short, I tinted it red to match my Nissan.

you can get a nice candy paint job on it
or just ask a custom cf. what colors they can get

colored weave "CF" is really fiberglass. there is no such thing as colored carbon fiber. its a marketing gimmick. as the others said also, candy coat it for your effect.
