Default To Buy or NOT to Buy

Sup folks...need a bit of advice from my fellow SC owners.
I found a 94 Silver Spruce SC400 with only 68K miles.
The owner is an old gentleman, and the car is mint.
All it needs is new seat covers, speedometer needles, and the AC Control LCD.
Other than that the car is mint.

Would you buy this car for 6K?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

that's very cheap for needing not very much work. Pull the trigger.

You want him to ask 3k for an SC with very common problems that change nothing with the car and 68k on the clock? That's the most over-the-top lowball i've ever heard.

6k is VERY fair for that SC if its as nice as you say.

Get it fast, it wont last

Thanks for all the feedback so far.
I've seen and driven the car, and it truly is mint other than the minor issues I mentioned (which I can remedy for less than 500-600 bucks)

It even comes with brand new Michelin tires.
This car was very well taken care of, and even the headlights look brand new, and it has been in no accidents.

I can also also pick up a 98 SC4 with 107K miles for about $7500, but can't decide.

Thanks again for all your input.

Yeah, I think it would be pretty heartless to offer $3000 for such a well kept car.
Especially because the seller is a gentleman about 80 years old who is selling the car and all his belongings to go into an assisted living facility with his wife.

Thanks for voicing your opinion though.

If you really care about what extra stuff the 98 has then you might want that. It has a gated shifter and the vvti 1uzfe, 97+ bumper, skirts and rear of course and tails which are all popular upgrades for other sc owners here. If you plan on going to 97+ conversion you should just get the 98, if you want to go another way with another kit or even keep it stock and enjoy it, get the 94. I'd go with the 94 because its really low mileage and sounds really well taken care of.

Thanks Vortes. I definitely like the extra refinements found in the 98, especialy the vvt-i 290 hp motor and 5 sp auto tranny. However, they are not must haves, and I would be just as happy owning a low mileage 94.
I think at this point I'm also leaning towards the 94, but just wanted to see if ppl thought the price was fair.

This would not be my first SC. As a matter of fact, I love them so much that I've had 5 so far, 3 of which have been 5 speeds, and the other 2 have been SC400's, all between 95 and 97.

This 94 would be a nice addition to my SC ownership history, and one that I would probably keep for a long time.

Thanks again.

I would definitely go with the 94...that's what I had!

Just checked kbb...a 92 with 68k on the clock and no options, is still more than 6k for private party sellers. Go with the 94. You'll be extremely happy with it.

It is definitely reasonable given the condition. Hell there are SC's goin for 6k with twice the mileage. Most of what you see in the 3k price range needs a good bit of work and in many cases isnt worth the hassle. I guess you could always do 5.5k so the interweb doesnt give you crap for paying asking price.

dude IMO a 94 with 68k for 6 grand is a SCREAMIN deal. the 97+'s are obviously nice, but anytime you can pick up an SC with that low of mileage for that good of a price, don't pass it up!
