Default alarm install questions... already tried searching

My viper 5701 autostart/alarm came today in the mail. I plan on installing after I get my car back from autobody.

Is there a how to/ DIY on the forum for installing a alarm/remote start in a 92 sc300?

I searched and I couldn't find anything. I searched google also and only found wiring specs, but not all the wire locations I need.

I wanna try installing it myself, has anyone else accomplished this? I have a manual tranny and will be installing autostart on it, the alarm is made for 5speeds so shouldnt be that hard right?

I contacted Tommy at autobox in El monte ca as referred to on the forum, he said he charges $200 and will take 4 hours. Should I just go that route? Im use to and familiar with installing car audio, so doing the alarm shouldn't be that difficult with a DIY.

once you do one remote start(or 5) you can do them all.

i would say if you have never done one them get someone experienced to help or leave it to the "experts"

i use expert in quotes since a lot of people claim to be one but not many can prove it. a lot of people can wire it all up and have it work but doing a clean wiring job is a different story.

to be able to do a remote start you have to understand what each wire in the system does and how it reacts to other functions.

you dont need a special remote start to do it in a manual trans cars. just jump the clutch switch. you car will also be able to start without depressing the clutch. thats actually a good thing when you thing of it with regard to thrust bearing wear and crank walk.

Don't mean to bump a old thread but...

I decided to get someone to install it. I found another trust worthy spot, where I get all my cars windows tinted at. They are charging $175, a bit cheaper then the spot I found before.

Is $175 a good price for alarm install?
