Custom HID foglights to match my lowbeams completed. Install this week
I had a pair of eagle eye HID fog lights, that produce a white/purple HID light that broke awhile back cuz the lense was cracked by a rock on the highway.
Ever since then, I had replaced my phillips direct HID 4100k Lowbeams and changed to HELLA 7000K (blue) HID low beams.
I had some cheapy yellow fogs put in as a placeholder.
I was successful this weekend, in attempting to transplant the
white phillips HID's w/another set of HELLAS
(btw...yes..lex400sc is correct. ALL of the ballasts from all the companies(vision, hella, k2) are created by Phillips. I didn't realize this, till I removed my foglights.)
First, I repaired the housing, and took out the cracked lens and put in the replacement lens(just put some epoxy resin in it. Fits perfectly.)
Secondly, I took the HID HELLA lowbeams, and custom fit them, into where the original HID lights are supposed to go. They are NOT an exact fit. I had to do some sanding down to rough out the edges of the HELLA lights that are meant for 9006 sockets.
Now they fit perfectly. This weekend, I will install them onto my car and take pictures..
The result should be a very uniform HID look across the board. I should again look like a freight train going down the street. =)
