I havent ever had one of these Lexus things...until now!
Hola all,
My name is Chris, and let me first begin by apologizing to the powers that be. I'm a moderator myself on bimmerboard.com so dealing with newbs/noobs is always exciting. I've been lurking around for a few days since buying my 1995 SC300, and i'm sure there is an introduction thread that someone will most assuredly point out. Probably that "come here first" link above...
Anyway I've pretty much always been a Honda/Chevy/BMW guy. I've had probably 8 Accords from 3rd-6th gen, and currently have a 94 black on black Legend GS 4 door 6 speed. I've had 2 e38's, a 98 740iL and a 01 740i sport. My stepdad has an 03 LS430, and girlfriend a 99 GS300. Never has anything bad to say about the high priced Toyota's beside they were kinda boring. A disconnect from the road if you will. However, I marvel at the fact that my girlfriend has spent about $2000 in maintenance AND tires in 6 years while that is ONE trip to the shop for a BMW. (And you'll be going back again in several months).
So I've always like the older SC's (But I'm not crazy about the changes in 97, the taillights with that chrome and the front lower bumper arent appealing to my eye) and have been kinda looking for one to replace a supercharged Riviera I got last year. Comfy and cheap, but boring and not the most stylish. I found a SC in FL, that is my favorite color blue, with 87k miles on it from an estate sale. Looks like all the timing belts and service was done at 77k so I jumped on it. Paid 5k, which I thought was pretty alright for such low mileage and its condition. I've had a LOT of cars, a n/a Z32, 2 MTX SHO's, aforementioned BMW's, LT4 Corvette, many classic Chevy's (including my current two savings accounts, a 66 C-10, and a 69 SS427 convertible Impala) and i'm really hoping to get in this Lexus and enjoy it like I have many of my other toys. That's all they are to me, toys. I'm not going to claim to keep it forever, because I'll get tired of it and move on to the next thing in 6 months. But hopefully the Lexus will keep me put for awhile.
This forum appears to be the same as the several others I'm on. Since this is an aged model and the cars can be had for semi-reasonable prices - you have your old heads, your performance nuts, your youngsters (not ALL of them though) who cant spell (maybe it's just the "text typing") or drive, your "how much gas mileage does the car get" askers, your "search for the answer numnuts" answerers, and your trolls who provide no meaningful input. Looking forward to joining the fray, and here are a few pics of my car:

absolutely gorgeous..welcome aboard! and being a moderator on another forum, Im sure you wont have any problems finding your way around.
Now I notice it says bone stock and staying that way in your sig, but are you 100% sure about that? A GTE would be an excellent compliment to your SC.

Great find, looks like a very clean car, and most importantly a huge improvement over a Buick Riviera. Welcome to Club Lexus.
You're not alone, I'm not a huge fan the 97+ look either for the exact reasons you stated.
So I've always like the older SC's
