Lightbulb Help im stuck..

well im changing my valve cover gaskets and have a few questions. any help would be greatly appreciated... thanx cl..


why we do these things...


how do you get this intake extension off??


does this have to come off (what is this line for)?

and last one for now what is this because the top crumbled in my hands and im pretty sure i need to replace it....



this is my first time diong the valve covers on a 2jz and yeah...this definitely aint like my 5mge lol...damn i miss that car....

ps. im trying to do a diy with pics to so no one else has to ask these questions again..i searched and couldnt find one so yeah, i figured ehhh what the hell i'll do it..

how do you get this intake extension off??
You need to remove the 4 12mm head bolts and two 12mm head nuts plus the EGR tube and unplug the EGR temp sensor, plus vacuum lines LABEL them.

Yeah, remove the 2 12mm head bolts that are on the other end - its the EGR tube

I think thats the goodie that bumps up the idle when the engine is under load from A/C


Oh, and THIS is a real valve cover leak...

damn.....my leak is no where near that bad....lol soooo its the idle bumper upper thingy bobber lol...i hope i can buy one of those for cheap. im kinda screwed on that egr valve too. one of the bolts came out fine the other with the same socket just spun like it stripped so somehow i have to figure out a way to get that off..man when i right this diy ill be sure to write in there somewhere to keep a lot of spare time as this is not a 123 hour job....

quick question about doing this again i got the valve coverrs off, just wanted to know if this engine has 2 pc valves (one on each valve cover)??if not can someone specify what each one is i want o replace them both just because im not diong this again for a while.. thanx in advance for any help also if anyone has a clue what that piece is on the last pic??

so i figured it out one pcv valve other one is just a tube.....
