I was considering selling off my Infiniti I35 in favor of an SC300 with the idea of swapping in a 1JZ. Since I've been a big 240SX enthusiast for a while, the problem of police, emissions, and Ref tickets have been one of my biggest concerns with JDM swaps and such.
My gut instinct is that the SC300 is NOT a target car, and that with a stock look, is highly unlikely to have its hood popped. However, I figured I'd be better off asking those who know a thing or two before making the jump.
Second order of business- what's the huge advantage of 97+ SC's? They're a little above budget if I consider the swap, but is it really worth it?
Also, anyone know of any shops they'd trust to do the work? A friend's shop quoted me at $4k installed for a 1JZ swap. That sounded low, but since I know he does SR20 swaps all day and works on a variety of cars, I trust his work in general.
Thanks for all your insight! Also, hi! I'm new here :P

If you wanna be sleeper, then by all means, but with all the aftermarket available, it's gonna be hard to keep a stock look. There are really clean body kits available, cheap HID's, coilovers, and the wheel wells can fit very aggressive widths and offsets. All these add to a more non-stock look, and there have been mobile BAR units spotted throughout socal.. just giving you a heads up.. welcome to CL

Awesome ![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
As I said, the SC300 seemed like, essentially, the perfect sleeper. It's luxurious and comfortable thus making it a great DD and unlikely cop target, but can also pack a serious 400+hp punch.
So, on to the other question. Does anyone have a clue about that 1JZ swap stuff? I'd trust his (Off at KOM Automotive) work but if anyone else has a recommendation, please let me know. Speaking of 1JZs, does the ETCS on the VVT-i 1JZ become an issue when swapping over? I do believe it has some different connections, so the chances of me getting VVT-i are low (as it will cost more), but I was especially curious about that.
Thanks for all of the responses so far!

The only reason you see 240's getting their hoods popped are because they are mainly used for drifting. They know all about it. Sc's arent used for drifting too much. They are luxury DD's. If you do plan on have some power. Just dont act like an idiot on the streets. Most of the 240sx owners I know / hear about drift on streets like nothing. Thats what gets them in trouble.
