go back there and double check look closely at the vin in the window, take a paper towel and wipe it see if it missing or just really dirty. if its not there then just walk away there is no way it can fall off unless someone takes it out.

and tell them what? i have no way of knowing if the car is actually stolen. the guy should be getting out of work soon so if he calls me ill tell him its goign to cost to much to get a legit vin tag in the window and i have no way of knowing nethign about the vehicle
if he gives me my money back no harm no foul but we will see what happens

Actually, I think it is a crime to sell a vehicle that has the vin removed (for use on the street, ie. non off-road).

Default 2010 Rx450h vin plate slipped down

Folks arw overblowing this.

We have a 2010 rx 450h, which we purchased new, and has been in our posession the whole time.

Last year i noticed the dash vin plate had slipped down into the dash. It was *not* rivited, just glued on there.

I don't know why it wasn't rivited, but all these claims of "vin plate missing, must be stolen" are just plain wrong. Check the vin plate on the engine block as a secondary.

That said, in don't know what it will take to get the dash vin repaired.. and this is important, because officers do need it for parking tickets.

Pre 2010, SC's used to get stolen a lot. Florida, Texas New York and California were all hot spots. Thank god that never happened here in Chicago, but we did have a couple years were IS300s were getting stolen and that caught us locals off guard. We figure they were getting shipped intact to Eastern Europe.
