Default Speedometer needle calibration!

Long story short, I took off the speedometer needle and cannot reinstall it correctly. No matter when I do, it is reading 15-25mph lower than it should. I have removed and reinstalled the needle probably 30 times with no success! Anyone have any hints or tips?

If you have a GPS you most likely have a speedometer on it. If you dont have one then borrow it.

Get on the highway, cruise controll it at about 60 and install your needle

Wow, what a great idea. Never would have thought of that! I hope that works. How did it become misaligned? When I replaced my tach needle I just popped it back on there and its still very accurate.

Speedo needle can be adjusted. As mentinoed, I'd use GPS at a speed that matters (say 65mph) and calibrate to that speed.

If that doenst work, I would send it to Lextech, and let them try and resolve the problem.

Anyone found the resolution for the problem? Just changed the motors on my speed and tach and now my speed and revs are way off.

Hmmm... time to upgrade to some STACK gauges!!!

No but really, this is a good question because I think mine is off too.... when I'm cruising at 70mph, I'm passing everyone up like they are standing still.

I sent a email to lextech and got this as a response if i can send my cluster in to get fixed: "If stock, Those are just a matter of placing the needles back on correctly, not actual calibration in the sense of weighting and resistance changes to the motor itself. "

Any resolutions on how to fix it or send my cluster somewhere to get it fixed? I know getting another cluster would probably fix it but i would like to keep my 5spd cluster though.

Still haven't fixed this...lextech doesn't fix speedometers but has been helpful. I'm going to try replacing the entire speedo motor and spring with one from another cluster.
