Because the most common swap is the chevy 350 and the magic 1hp to 1cubic inch formula.

Turbocharging the 1UZ is a bit little expensive. Supercharging it is a bit cheaper. You can go to www.Lextreme.com, buy a supercharger bracket "Lextreme calls it The Fish" for $150, buy a good used Vortech or Procharger for less than $1000, put some pipings plus intercooler and you can have a complete setup for $1500-$1700. Get a set of 8 used Supra MKIII 315 cc/min injectors for around $100. Install a piggyback ECU such as Greddy, Map-ECU, or Map-Pro and a tune for a little more than $1000. The complete setup will be around $3000.

Ask a member KC95SC400 and he just ran 12 seconds with this setup, minus the transmission. Remember on the 1UZ, 350 rwhp will kill your transmission because it also makes +350 rwtq. Torque is what kills your tranny. So a hi-performance rebuild is a must if you want 350 rwhp.

P.S. Scott just sold his nearly new twin turbo kit for $4000. What a deal!

3000 is MORE than enough for a good na-t project. Take your time, source your parts, and it will be done.

ahh this is all the reason i'd like to sell my SC right now, I've had 3, also have had a 1jz which was a blast, now i have na-t which i have grown a new respect for. but do what you will like someone already stated in this thread making a SC fast is not cheap.

300hp is fun but not really fast IMO, 350whp would be pretty cool but in a SC it's like this na-t your stock fuel system is gonna limit you to around 300 to 340ish, even if you upgrade that, if you have a automatic then 300-350 is also all your going to want to push on your stock trans with a good trans cooler.

1jz, probably won't hit 350whp with bolt ons either, also tranny limited and for more hp you'd need a single turbo setup, not cheap.

if you have a 1uz your equally as screwed without spending alot.

then even if you have boost and a 5speed you can't really drive it hard or you'll be replacing your w58, you can pay twice as much and get a R154 which is not invicible either and harder to find.

I'm not here to debate this, but I f'd like to clarify this more:

All those things are subjective, so it's all up to the individual.

You gotta at least state a agreeable base to even state this.

Cheap? can range from anywhere depending on how affluent you are.

Fast? 350hp might be fast for me, a person whose driven stock engines all my life, but to someone who builds 600+HP machines it might be nothing.

Reliable? Again, is one season on a track reliable, or are you referring to 5years daily driving.

------------

So to the OP: State what you think is cheap, and what you want from reliability, and what you think is fast. It will give people a better chance to help you, and depending on what your choices are you CAN have all three.

Yeah Id have to agree. Piecing together a kit will save you so much money in the end. Who makes a turbo manifold for our cars anyways? I wish I knew how to weld...

Im new to CL however not new to cars..

What type of 350hp do you want? ( sounds stupid but read on ) Full race? track/street? cheap?

it all comes down to how much you wanna spend and what your looking for in the car besides just 350hp..

as for tuning MAF Translator.. Im still somewhat new to toyota/lexus tuning.. but im sure theres many more out there cheap..
