I've just done a search and found some info on what rear diff's will bolt up into our SC's. I spacifically am wondering if a LS400 or a SC400 rear will bolt up into my '95 SC300 5-speed. Which is better? I went to the local junk yard today and there was a '94 SC400 and a '96 LS400 there, both of which had their rear differentials still there. What should I get?

ls400 diff wont work
sc400 diff is the same thing as your 300. it is still on open diff, no an lsd, and only difference is the gearing. trust me you dont want sc400 diff in your sc300 5spd unless you are already turbo'd and have a higher redline.
if anything get a sc300 auto diff. it is higher geared and will make the car more fun to drive. better pickup.
i have an sc400 diff in my car right now as a temp fix since i blew up my sc300 auto diff AND sc300 5spd diff lol. 400 diff is geared way too low and makes the car sluggish. the gearing falls between gears....meaning if you are in 2nd the rpm seem too high for the speed and if youre in 3rd it seems to bog. not pleasant.

I had a 4.11 swapped rear gear in my Q45 and it greatly improved the day to day drivability. I'd really like to do the same thing to my SC400.

Ha ha, I tried to be all sly about it, but yeah, I sold her about 2 weeks ago to someone in NJ. I just couldn't pass up his offer. I already miss the looks and comments I got from her. I just bought a '95 SC300 5-speed for $2500, so I'm pretty stoked about my new project
