Stuff like that i'd go OEM. We have lots of local sponsors here that gives great prices.

My friend bought a lot of stuff from autozone for his tune up. The items seem legit and of good quality. It's the ebay stuff I would stay away from.

OEM stuff from Pembroke Pines Lexus is about the same price as aftermarket stuff from the local parts store.

I'm just picky when it comes to cars and even down to the belts and hoses I go with OEM parts.

The only auto parts store stuff on my cars is light bulbs, fluids (except transmission fluid), and wiper blades.

When an expensive part like an a/c compressor or alternator goes out I have had great luck getting OEM used parts instead of new/reman. aftermarket. Just once I bought a duralast alternator for a Celica I owned the past. I had to replace it once within 6 months cause it started sqeeking. Then the repalcement was replaced within 2 years cause it quit working. Autozone did 100% no hassle exchanges but it was a hassel to change it out so much.

On the other had I put a $25 used alternator in a friend's Camry and it has been working fine for 5+ years.

It depends on the item and how difficult it is to get to it, how likely it is to have problems, how likely it is to be of superior quality over factory parts, etc. I'd be happy to use a Gates Racing timing belt over a factory belt, but I'd definitely buy a factory water pump.
