Default My recently bought 95 SC400

Hey everybody! my names Tuan(im sure noone is familar with me here yet) been on the forums since i bought my sc a few months ago and felt i should share my new lexus sc experience.
1. first off!... Seller pics.... not very good ones but the guy who sold it to me pretty much half ***ed the whole sale.

Bought this for 2k flat. Listed at almost 3k but i worked at him for a few days and finnally he let it go for $2000(Note: I am a 23 year old highschool dropout(very dumb and dealing with it now) working at UPS part time so i dont have a fat wallet.... YET... anyway feel free to give input whether i got a good deal on the price... My opinion... VERY nice cars(SC's in general) but i got what i paid for as far as maintenance.

2. Since ive had the car i've done quite a bit of Fixin up more on the maintenance and restoration side. First thing i did was seafoam, oil change/filter, and spark plugs at once... depending on what sparkplugs you want these three things can be done at a VERY CHEAP price range......
A)seafoam - 7-12 bucks
B)oil/filter(valvoline highmileage/cant remember what brand) - 35-40 bucks
C)sparkplugs(NGK IRIDIUMS, there are cheaper alternatives) - 60-75 bucks

DID YOU SEE THE DONUTS??? LMAO

....For those that want to seafoam, this is the break booster line...

The rubber hose below which is now disconnected is what u use to suck the seafoam up.

I went with the NGK IRIDIUMS which seemed very popular on this forum as well as the bosch IR and a few otheres...

Heres what the old plugs looked like... and my new torque wrench i bought for about 20 bucks... not a really good one but does the job...

For the oilchange... I mean what could i really post about that exept the fact that in the picture above with all the stuff i bought... U can see i accidently bought valvoline highmileage 10W.....40?? dont know why meant to get the 10w30 but i figured after doing seafoam it sound like a good idea to plan TWO oil changes. Once right after the whole seafoam process... and another a few days or week later as there may still be bad stuff still loosening up. Any suggestions on types of oil you guys would use and how many miles ur car has would be GREAT.

Check out the cheesy pinstrip!

removing was a pain... not hard just time consuming(I used a guitar pick which worked pretty good but i think a razor may be easier)...

Now, i find this kinda funny because 1UZ-GS just gave me a suggestion(THANKS), for my process of renewing my headlights... I used that turtle wax headlight renewal and my experience with it to me was a FAIL. or maybe there is something else i should have put in consideration when using any kinda buffer whether it is a electric buffer or simply using the right sandpaper. I bought some polish recently but havent got to cleaning the headlights again to use it(first time with the turtlewax headlight restorer i did not have any polish which may be the problem)

Anyway heres the results...
Befor

After

Befor

after

Not bad right? Nope... looked like that for a week... but maybe once i apply the polish it will last longer...

after a few weeks of have the car i started to get annoyed by this f'ed up driverside fender... which if you look back on the sellers pics(TOP) you really cant notice it... But when i finally seen it up close i was kinda dissapointed... anyway i bought the car regardless and now i have no worries of it... Dented fender replaced!

front bumpers off below and CHECK OUT THE BUMPER BAR! its not suppose to look like that and it being bent like that actually warped my front bumper a bit... (current front bumper is not the original... notice the fog lights are the cornering lights from the 92-94 generation... not detailed like the 95-96 gen. And my foglights work like foglights! not cornering lights) Im sure the original bumper was trashed from the accident it was in...

REAL QUICK... If you look at the HALFWAY shot of my car basically naked in the front... look at the ground between my rotor and jackstand... that dirt came from inside my fender... and that is what i call STAGE 1 WEIGHT REDUCTION. anybody need a DIY write up on that let me know...
