Mine just went out today while on the road.. Car was going to shift into od and I gave it some gas which cause it to jump back to 3rd ..after that od does not engage now.. Haven't diagnosed anything yet..When I fix it I'll post my findings.. I'm thinking its gotta be the selenoid or the ecu...

^ urs could be the ecu..which i had the problem when i first got the car...try turning the od off and wait til ur about 3-4k rpms and then turn it on..it should shift into OD..goodluck

Posting an update .. the problem became intermittent..(my favorite) it started working again on and off.. I swaped out the ecu and it was fine for a bit but back to not working now ..

Next I guess I'll ck the shift module as one member suggested and then the selenoid ..

Sounds like you've got a harness issue to me. I had the same problem on my old 95 Thunderbird (replaced the transmission too) and it ended up being the main connector, one of the pins had become loose in it and would not seat properly only making part-time connection.
