Default WTH....Are the PS Lines Made of 24 Carat Gold

My SC300 has been leaving a drop or 2 of ATF from the power steering ever since I got it and I was preparing to attack the issue. Haven't gotten under the car yet to diagnose it but the pump looks spotless and the drip is too far forward to worry about the rack&pinion so I just assume it's the high pressure line. Of course a dealer only item and when I called my buddy this morning I about had a heart attack....List $687 Is that right??? Looks like I'll be sending it to a rebuilder if that is correct.

You can get one that doesn't have the fancy sensors from luxurymods.com

I'll be getting mine rebuilt if it turns out to be the problem....I just couldn't believe the price...LOL. Jobber pricing on that thing is still upwards of $400.

There is a maze of piping behind the front bumper which may be causing that ridiculous price you see from the dealer.

As mentioned earlier, there are short hoses you can buy for cheap to get away from that madness behind the bumper.

What are the 2 sensors on the high pressure hose by the way and will any warning lights get triggered if I remove them. My father owns a NAPA that builds hydraulic hoses and he can build a replacement for almost nothing but I don't want dash lights or error codes popping up.

I used a high pressure line from a Nissan Maxima. It was free and it works like a charm, even looks stock.

No it's not....that's the problem with the Driftmotion line (and the fittings aren't great I've heard). The DM is 30" or so when 14" is enough.

Still want to hear more about the Maxima line that works though.

Edit: Had my father run through the system and the Maxima hoses he shows (1992-1999) are from 26" to 28" so a tuck would still be needed. They are indeed 16mm banjo ends though.....and my costs around $30 bucks...LOL.

It's from a 2003 I believe. It actually doesn't have much slack, and comes with heat shielding. I zip tied it against the mount for the sway bar, and I haven't had any issues. No leaks whatsoever.

It's a little fiddly securing it to the rack, but when you get it on, it's easy as pie.

Edit: 4th gens and 5th gen Maximas have different hoses, one has a banjo bolt on top of the strut tower, the other has it further down the line. I'll confirm with which one I used.
