So My Car Got Keyed
So I got home from work this defacement awaited me right in front of my door steps. I parked my car here in the same spots for almost 3 years almost without any incidents other than one that was out of another driver's negligence.
There goes my orange-peel-free 3 stage pearl paint on my rear passenger quarter panel. It went deep into the original paint.
Admittedly, for as much as I love my car, owning it for 5, years and still enjoy seeing it slowly evolve, I was not as pissed as I thought I would be. Heavy Hitters magazine editor John Jarasa repeatedly told me that whatever happens to a car, "it is a car after all", and that is very true.
It sucks that I cannot enjoy my car daily for fear of other peoples' negligence, as I my car have been dinged and scraped and bumped into twice since the repaint. It sucks even worse to not be able to enjoy my car for fear of getting vandalized out of random jealousy/hate.
Knowing that my car currently isn't a stellar performer nor have any extraordinary monetary value by any stretch of the imagination, I never thought this would happen. But then again, the car does manage to get a lot of peoples' attention - who knows whether its good or bad - on the road, in my neighborhood, and at shopping centers and it worried me occasionally. My anxiety was not unfounded after all.
But, I can sleep well at night happily knowing that the lives of the perpetrators will most likely go nowhere and be very miserable . Vandals are at the very bottom of the totem pole of social delinquents and deviants. I have more respect more, as little as it might be, for thieves and such since at least they have some sort of rational and logical motive behind their wrongdoings.
